Flea Medication and Baths?

Ok, this is the way I understand it...
Flea Medication needs the oil from my dog's skin to cover the body...
Bathing my dog gets rid of the oil...
So then, my question is...what's a safe amount of time between a Bath and applying Flea Medication? How long does it take for the oil to return enough for Flea Medication to be effective?

I believe Coco's vet said 3 days are needed for the oil to return. so to be safe, I wait 4. :)
