We've been using the dental cleaning Greenies, and our vet recently warned us against them. He has posted an article on the subject, detailing an operation to remove one, at http://www.doghearts.com.

That's scary. My girls love greenies.
best thing I've found to get shining teeth with no tartar build-up whatsoever...giving them soft raw bones, in my case chicken wings. both dogs have beautiful teeth. (not to mention they love the chicken!)

OT, but Debi, how long did it get your dogs to clean up? My mom finally bought Cocoa a raw bone(marrow bone) the other night, .. and she really needs to get her teeth clean.

just a couple times. Ham didn't have any tartar, but Addie did. after just a couple feedings (she chews them nice and slow) her teeth are soooo white! :) I've been so impressed.

Turkey necks are great for larger dogs as well. I feed Dante 3 times a day so a large turkey neck actually replaces one of his meals.
