Hi this is our new Black Lab Mix Jetta. She is a doll. We are trying to get ideas on what else she is. I think maybe Husky. Any feedback appreciated! The curly tail has us a little stumped.

I see a little Chow also, because of the tail!

She is very cute! How old is she?
I have no ideas for you....BUT SHE IS SWEET!!!!!!! I love that little face..tooo cute. My Addie is a husky mix (have NO clue what the father might have been...she often reminds me of Snoopy) Addie has that same curly tail, tho. :)

Oh, she's a DOLL!
You'll be able to tell more as she gets older, not just physically but by her instinctive behaviours. It's hard to tell when they're pups since pups tend to have a lot of the same characteristics when they're young.
If there isn't any blue on the tongue you can pretty well rule out Chow. She's so sturdy looking I'd guess you might even be looking at some Akita, especially with the lay of the tail and the broader face and snout and that oh-so-earnest and determined little face.
I love the name, too! Jetta should meet my Bimmer (GSD/wolf mix)! :D

Oh, Jetta reminds me of my dog Brandy. She was also a lab mix. I never found out what the mix was since I rescued her from a shelter. All I can tell you is she was so special. Enjoy Jetta!!!!

Jetta is almost 12 weeks old. She has no black/blue on her tongue. I checked that before we picked her up. Pink as can be. She is a little leary of strangers sometimes...reserved. She warms up pretty quick though. We'll see if anyone has any other ideas. This is fun!
I say Lab mix Chow!!!Coz it has a Lab face and features and has a Chows tail!!!How i think i know is my mums mate who lives a while away has a dog what looks really like yours do!!! :D

She is really cute. I am guessing lab/Akita too. She looks so much like a lab, but that tail....... I have the same problem with Brady. His mom was a lab mix and I was told his dad was a golden, but his tail and ears do not look anything like a golden. keep us posted on her personality as she gets older because I have come up with some more possibilites with Brady as I have learned his instincts and behaviors. You may very well be better able to guess as she gets older, plus you can see how big she gets and how much she weighs which may help too.

Jetta is adorable ! I agree with the lab/akita also.

Being reserved as a puppy makes me think Akita even more. Husky pups tend to be much more outgoing, and that reserve is an Akita trait.
I had a German Shepherd/Akita mix for many years. He was a fabulous dog.

Hi Mike,
It would be easier to tell if you had something like yoursef to see her size. Also you dont tell us her age. She doesn't seem as though she will get very big, I doubt Akita size will be attained.

One thing you'll have to remember is that you don't necessarily get a half and half cross. She might be a 50X50 cross, or she could be 50X25/25, 25X25X25X25, or any variant, although you can tell Lab is the dominant breed.
If she's 10-12 weeks old, as she appears, judging by the comparison to the chair, she could easily end up being a moderately large dog (60-80 pounds). Those legs are very sturdy.

I have absolutely no idea but couldn't the tail be a sort of deformity?

No, so many breeds out there have tails like that. There are many different kinds of tails. That happens to be called a "sickle" tail. There are two other types of tails that are also similarly shaped like the "sickle" and they are "curled" and "ring". There are 15 types of tails that I know of. It is not a deformity, it just happens to have the "sickle" tail. You could probably go online and learn about all the different kinds of tails. There is probably a site about it somewhere. I can list them too. ;)
