Any herding people?

I would like to start herding this year with Faith, my collie, but don't even know where to begin. It's one thing I honestly haven't been exposed to at all. Any info?

first thing you should do is get your dog herding instinct tested, see if he/she
has the instinct to herd

contact some dog clubs in your area, hopefully someone can set you up for a test

I know one of mine has the instinct for sure she herds her puppies and the grandchildren :D

i do herding but not with collies but id start just by going to a ranch or somthing and having her get used to cattle and sheep

I herd with my Beaucerons, we have sheep and horses on our farm for them to work with, I also would herd with my Rottweiler before she died. Get a Herding INstinc Test, then go watch some trials (talk to Border Collie people! they will help you find good trials!) or seminars.
