Gallien , I think it takes a special person to really enjoy any terriers. I like any dog, but I never could own a big dog in a small body. Your babies are beautiful though !

thats a great way to put it, thanks
Dont worry guys I dont mind if you dont like Jacks I say you either love them or hate them, everyone loves different dogs, if they didnt then there would only be one breed of dog!

After having the chance to train a wonderful basenji/rat terrier mix(in my siggy), it is safe to say that I will never willingly own a terrier. :p

I love them, had 2 when I was growing up. both females but only had one at a time. one was my brothers and one was my moms. I would have to say I love them. I agree with you that people either love them or hate them, but I would even go farther and say (atleast most of) those who love them actually love and hate them. not hate in a bad way...hard to explain. basically they can be a terrible pain in the butt, but it is atleast partly their pain in the butt attitude that endears them into our hearts.

My cousins had one when we were really young. Suffice it to say, I don't remember her that well. Terriers as a whole are not for me. Not to say that I wouldn't rescue one if needed, but I would never purchase one from a breeder, as I just don't think the Terrier group and me would g-haw (mingle.) :)

My Cousin has two, one male and one female. They are both very sweet and demand to be loved when they first meet you. The listen pretty good and are very attentive to him. They are amazing athletes. The have too much energy for me but they fit his lifestyle very well (he is kinda hyper too...lol)
Great dogs for the person on the go.
PS...His female is perhaps the best watch dog I have ever seen. She seems to know exactly what to bark at (eg Strangers at the dog) and what not to bark at ( eg Mailman). This might just be her because the Male he owns just doesn't seem to get the whole "watchdog" thing....:p

lol yeo they are hyper dogs, when people know that we have a boxer as well they have said that is a silly mix! i dont understand this jacks never grow up and neither do Boxers so i think its a great family to have, even though I get no piece lol
I have a friend who judges, occasionally breeds, shows, works, and rescues JRT's, she has around 20 right now,,some of her own, some rescues. Let's just say from a die hard herding dawg person,,they ain't for me! LOL
They are cute as all get out, but I'll stick with my herding dawgs.

I think they're great dogs, just a bit energetic, stubborn, and at times, bratty LOL. Colby is all three. :D Those are some of the reasons I love her though.

I love them! :D I thought about it for months before I got mine, because they are a hiper little dog........didn't know if I could handle one or not!!;)
Then for a week or two after I got him I wondered if I had made the right decision by getting him, but now I wouldn't take a thing for him just love him to death.
He is a live wire at times, stubborn and funny as a monkey......LOL....and very loving, loves everybody he meets!:D
O by the way your pups are pretty Gallien Jacks. :)

I'd never choose one as a dog for me,if it showed up i'd take one in but they jsut are not for me. But I have met a few I have just loved. A frineds frined had a wiry haired one who ran circles around you untill you picked him up by the tail adn swung him around on this rug. He was a strange dog. He herded their chickens too. But all the others I hav emet and not liked were also horribly bred, untrained dogs so that could have a lot to do with it.

i'm a huge terrier fan and jacks are by far my favorite terrier breed.
the only reason i don't have one right now is that i wanted to save a dog from the pound and it happened to be quigley who stole my heart. he's really an oversized JRT tho :D, all terrier all the time, the same activity level and all.
it's just too bad that he's too large for all the traditional terrier sports. i'm looking to get a jack for performance events in the future tho. :)

I will answer that if nobody minds....
That is a boxer and not the mother. lol:D
Not the breed for me, that's for sure. I'm not a terrier person at all, but maybe that's because the terriers that come to daycare live up to the "terror" part of their name...they can play all day long, but won't let anyone else. All the dog-dog bites I've had to deal with have been instigated and dealt by terriers.
I'm with Jynx: I'll stick to my herding breeds.

I"ll have to say, that I used to judge the Lurer coursing for the pup Jacks and they are an adorable breed to watch, but to own one, it definately takes a special person for that. I have met some really fabulously trained Jacks, and then I have met some horribly trained little guys, so I'm sort of on the fence about the breed. I know I could never own one though. lol
but personally, I love the herding/working group of dogs way too much :)

lol guys yep that is pearl she is just like their mummy, i am sure they think she is, its a mad house here at the mo, but its like a dream come true for me to have 4 jacks here, they are not for everyone they need strict training and they will try your patience lol

I bathed a male Jack russel a few days ago and he was SOOOO hyper!!! I mean seriously jumping around everywhere!! lol but he was also so sweet and such a clown! I don't think I'd have enough energy for a jack, but they are the funniest, cutest dogs! And so smart!!

lol yep they can be a bit bouncy lol, mine are always good with me (well most of the time) but they will try it on with someone new to see what they can get away with, you cant let a Jack get away with something then decide you dont want it to to that anymore, because they never forget!
Jack russell terriers are so sweet!
I know 2 people, who have this fantastic pupils.
I love manchester terrier too. But I don't see topic about this dogs.
Moreover I looked after very nice manchester. It was female.
At the beginning I didn't like terriers, but when I met one of them, I changed my opinion ;)

One of my dogs is part JRT (other half is Maltese, but he's just like a bigger version of a JRT) and he was SUCH a hyper puppy. He is nearly 10 years old and still has bundles of energy at times... and still manages to jump up and down! I have to say, he is an extremely smart dog, which is why he is stubborn at times. He is excellent on the lead and never pulls, is good at 'heeling' and when he's off the lead he never runs onto the road.
I work at a dog grooming salon and last week I was *trying* to brush a JRT but she kept bouncing around the place and wouldn't stay still, all she wanted to do was to play with me! :D
Jack Russells do have heaps of energy, but they have great personalities.

I love the breed my friend Grace has a female (I can't remember her name) and she is a sweet dog. She tends to get snappy at times when she is excited but their working on it.
