Freckles was rescued from a Vet's office where they found him abandoned one day at their back door. I see a basic spaniel but the partial blue left eye shows some other mix. Freckles weighs 60 pounds and loves water. He has a very high energy level and also has OCTBD (Obsessive Compulsive Tennis Ball Disorder):)
I take Duke and Freckles every weekend to our dog park and for a year and a half I have been looking for any other dog that resembles him but no match yet. Springers have longer ears and Britanies are not as stout.
Anybody care to guess what else might be in his genetic background?

Spaniel and Border Collie? That's what I see. I'm sure others will have better guesses!

I agree with your two sugestions. In fact when I'm at the dog park and people ask me what breed he is I tell them he's an Australian Border Spaniel. :) :)
Then I tell them the truth, that he's just a sweet mixed up mutt.

My guess would be Aussie as well, particularly with the eyes and the ears. Handsome fellow!

Austalian Border Spaniel. Has a ring! LOL With all the "new breeds" floating around, people probably think nothing of it when you say that's what he is! LOL

That first picture makes me think some Saint Bernard mix. So cute!

I'd say a Spaniel and Border Collie too. Are 'Aussies' common? I've never seen one here in the UK.
Someone who I know has a small dog with a little bit of lots of different breeds in it so she calls it a 'Bristish All Sorts' ;)

Aussies are well represented here in the States. They really aren't from Australia at all - they're actually an American breed :) They're larger and heavier than a Border Collie, with very strong, well developed hindquarters and tend to have a bit more of an "attitude" than the Borders. They're very popular working with rodeos, both in animal control and in ring acts.

Totally has Aussie in him. Look at my signature, that's an Aussie on the right.
Here's another pic of him: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v655/RubyRae/untitled.jpg

Beautiful baby!!!! Looks like a mix that got all the good traits of everything in him! I'm guessing Brittney, Husky (glass eye), Aussie...
Brittany!! There may be a bit of Aussie in there and maybe even a bit of NSDTR, but he really looks like a field-bred Brittany to me. That'd explain his drive, too.
