she is a great dog, very sweet and wants to do the right thing, but very very timid. i suspect she had never seen the street before i got her. how do i teach her to walk on a leash (she is using a haulter)? also with what other important things should i start training?

I'd take her to puppy school...

HEY my post didn't show up!!!!!
Start out by letting her drag the leash around for like 15mins per day while you are supervising her then pick up the leash and follow her around then have her follow you by encouragement with treats :)

actually we are traveling, so puppy school is not exactly an option. also how do i teach her the difference between off leash and on leash behavior. lastly she ahas started to whine and i don´t know why. ideas?

I use the leash during training and tempt mine with yummy treats I know they will do ANYTHING for. Praise her for being good on her leash and she will learn soon enough. It took my poodle about a week to learn about leashes and my lab (who was 8 weeks when I got her) about 2 weeks to not be afraid of the leash.

juliefurry, thanks for the response. she is afraid of everything, so its good to know that your lab was timid too. do you have any advice on how to help her?
