Our Puppy is constantly nipping and biting. We know it's playful but it starting to lead to growling, and it hurts too.
So we've been doing what was told, just to leave him, ignore him, but it's just not working.
His nipping has seemed to get worse.
Plus when we leave him, he pees (this is the only time he pees away from his designated area) sometimes seems like "out of spite" eventhough I know that's not possible.
We got the bitter apple spray for the furniture and our shoes, but what do you do about finger and toes.
yell ouch. a high pitched yelp sound does best. don't do a small 'ow' do it like a sharp quick noise. then quit playing. i'm not saying completly ignore. just make it VERY obvious that play time is over because he hurt you

i made the same thread. http://www.chazhound.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14813
if your pup nips and chews on anyones finger, dont let him. give him a chew toy insted and let your pup chew on that, if your pup continues to chew the toy then pet him and tell your pup good job! this is so he doesnt bite fingers in the future as an adult ^^ as i read on my thread
if your pup is teething, some people say to put a toy or a wet cloth in the freezer to make it cold so it soothes the gums

Having toys is the answer. When he nips you, give him a toy. Even if he chews it only for a few seconds, say "good boy". This is going to take a lot of repetition. My hubby made the mistake of giving the pup a sock to play with, now my hubby has to try to stop the pup from biting his foot when he walks in socks. Now our pup is starting to teeth so the nipping is back a bit but someone had us buy a Chilly Bone (wet with water and freeze) to help which it seems to be doing.
By the way, I've lived in Connecticut for 7 years but grew up in Kings Park. I miss driving to Port Jefferson and walking around the shops.
