What About Big Air?

Hey theres one sport bein' left out that all dogs can do...

BIG AIR! (If you've watched ESPNs SRS or the DU Dock Dog you know what Imma talkin' bout)

If my boy cant do the hunt test game Im going to see how he does in the Big Air competitions. This should be fun since he would go swimming all day if I allowed it.

what is big air?

20 ft dock, 4ft by 40ft tank of water, dogs favorite object, handler, dog of choice.

You have pup sit at one end of the dock, while handler goes to other end, handler holds up dogs fav object throws it out and dog launches himself full speed off the dock into tank of water. The longest distance is 32ft I believe. The Crown Champion of the Big Air from 2005 is Sly - a chessie from the east coast.

Labs, great danes, mixes, and border collies have been known to make some excellent jumps. :)

The farthest was made by a Border Collie and the distance was 30 ft I believe.

the sport is also known as "dock diving". there are several excellent communities on the internet. :)
