My 2 dogs and my sons dog have all been snorting not coughing a few times a day. Its like they have something up their nose. They snort really loud and with their neck stretched out. It is kinda weird. I called the vet and they thought it could be kennel cough even though both mine have had the bordatella nose spray injection. All 3 dogs act like they feel fine not sick. The vet said to just watch them and see how it goes. It is just strange because it is not a hacking cough, it is a nose snorting thing. Any ideas would be most helpful.
Thanks, Pam

I wonder if it's the "Reverse Sneeze"
I haven't seen it, but know a number of people that have dogs that do.

Thanks Fillyone. I checked the link that you posted and all 3 dogs are doing exactly that. I guess the vets office is not up on the reverse sneeze. It is just funny that all 3 dogs have it. Thank you again for your help.

Sounds like a reverse sneeze. Almost all dogs do it and it's normal. It can happen more often if there is something in the air that is bothering them. As far as your sons go, they can't catch a cough from the dog. Kennel cough does not cross species. Kennel cough is a dry, hacking cough like something is stuck in the throat and is occasionally occompanied by the spitting up of mucous/phlem. Anyway, also keep in mind that the kennel cough vaccine really doesn't do squat!!!

Showpug I think that when you read my first post you skipped over the part where I said my sons "dog" ! You musta been speed reading. Although sometimes my kids act more like animals than the animals do! Thanks a bunch , Pam

It's going to be a tough winter to call the shots with the dog virus . I hear the most cases are where the Katrina dogs went. I sure won't take any chances. That does sound like the reverse sneeze.
