Hi everybody, I have chosen to get a Bull Terrier for my next dog, I have reaserched this breed to the max and know everything there is to know about them.
But i have one quick question that if any bull terrier (or pitbull) owners could answer that would be great. How should I adapt a male puppy Bt into a home with a 10 year old JRT who is dog aggresive.

Bull terriers are great! Good choice! How dog aggressive is your JRT? Is he aggressive with all dogs? Is he Aggressive towards a certain breed, gender or age? He might get over being aggressive only if you introduce them correctly. Another thing... you should get a pup that does not have a dominant temperment, otherwise you will have problems.

Okay well this is the thing my JRT is a female and i have noticed that she really doesn't get along with other female dogs, I'm getting a male so that might help. Also in terms of breeds? It's more other dominate females she doesn't like, for example there is a female boxer across the street and they both have scrapped many times. I really don't know however she is just very aggresive with female dogs. I also think she sometimes feels threatened due to her size (she is very small, a stubby JRT).

Back when I wanted a bull terrier I read that they had potential to not do well living with other dogs because they have a tendency towards being very dog aggressive. If you get one, I would talk with your breeder about mixing one with the dog you already own.

Yeah i'm planning on doing that as well. Although I think my JRT could hold her own LOL :D

Yeah, some dogs do not like certain breeds. Since you have a female and you are getting a male, everything shoud go fine. You should get a pup at 8 weeks, just so your JRT is not intimidated by the pups size. You just need to get a pup with the right temperment, and from a good breeder. Get a pup that is a little submissive, but not to the point where he is scared of everything. Why are you getting a bull terrier? For protection? If so, dont be worried about getting a submissive pup, because he will still protect you as soon as he gets old enough, which is about 7 months up to 1.5 years old. Even when he gets older he will still respect your JRT since they were introduced at the pups tender age. Too many people make the mistake of getting a very dominant puppy, just because they think that will make him a good protector.

If you get one, I would talk with your breeder about mixing one with the dog you already own. As long as you get a bull terrier at a young age, he should do fine living with another dog. Pit bulls are more dog aggressive than bull terriers (or the same, depending on the breeder), but you often see alot of owners who have several pits at one time and they get along very well.
