NKC National Kennel Club, they recognize rare breeds.

thank you yucka... that was very helpful... that is awesome bubba... i am having issues with that... there are pros and cons to nuetering... none of it has to do with breeding mostly cancers and other problems so I guess there is a possibility but who really knows. hehehe i guess if hubby says i have too i will lol... but it will be a toss up at this point...

i wouldnt say they recognize rare breeds. they recognize ALL breeds.... and all colors..

how much competition are there at NKC shows? How often do they hold events in your area and how many dobermans are you projecting to see at each show? Do you have a time frame in which you hope to finish him?

Pippinislove

Do you know of any upcoming events or shows? I am interested in attending the shows in the audience.

Where are you planning to travel? How often will you be showing?

Pippins, I went to the NKC website and read thier rules, I do not believe you are too young to attend events...

However, AKC sanctioned shows are often much larger... And they are also often family-oriented events with junior handler events and such! I've seen kids that couldn't be older than 6 or 7 showing dogs in AKC!

Whitedobelover

no i was being facious elle LOL... duh lol all KIDS are welcome but i dont think her parents will allow her to travel LOL i need to ask my friend whom I am staying near... i forget where she said it was... but she needs to tell me i could probably fly military commercial flight out there lol... forgot about that. hehehe... let me tell ya... some AKC events are this one is quite big so i am very very nervous lol... i was just giving pippins crap since she is 16 and knows so much lol

I have attended plenty of dog shows, and as far as I know there is no minimum age you have to be to watch a show.

And why does me being 16 justify you to give me crap?

Rare breeds is what NKC recognizes? why do people insist on breeding the breeds and colors that the breed clubs try to eliminate? (I am not being mean or rude just wondering)

If the breeds are healthy, whats the problem?

Isn't it the same thing as creating new car styles, new recipes... variety is the spice of life?

They are not healthy, thats kinda the point. And the whole point of a dog show is supposed to be showing a standered.

Let me try to give you an example you can relate to ;) Take pugs for example. One of the most ancient breeds on earth. They come in two colors, fawn and black. The problem is, is that now people think it's really cool to breed brindles and sell them as some sought after rarity  They claim they are purebred and AKC registered. Problem is, is that there is not an option on AKC papers to register a pug as brindle, so they select fawn or black and call it good. The largest problem I have with this is when you go to make a new color, you have to cross breed with another breed. In this case it would be boston terriers or french bulldogs. When you do that, you are introducing a different breed which brings with it different traits, characteristics and health problems. Now, you are selling a dog as a purebred when it really isn't. Pretty soon you have pugs that don't look or act like pugs. When you love a breed, you want to see what makes that breed great preserved and protected. When people start inter-mixing, you loose what makes the pug special. If I wanted a boston or a frenchie, I would get one.

On another note, certain colors also bring along with them certain health risks.

Good points from both of you.

Definitely a bad thing to do if it brings any sort of health risks to the dogs.

From my understanding white coats in breeds such as Dobermans and Boxers = genetic problems.

Breeders years ago used to cull these pup's at birth and would never sell the pup's. Now, they have become a designer type dog, something nobody else has...rare.. . Not rare, just not a desired color as most are cursed with bad genes, flaws, skin problems, auto immune disorders etc. White Boxer's suffer the same genetic weakness as the white Dobe.

White Dobe's and Boxers usually means the gene pool is getting really really tiny and it's time to stop linebreeding that line and outcrossing from different lines of Dobes. White Dobes should NEVER be bred and you could never show a white Dobe in a CKC or AKC show. When seeing a White Dobe you are looking at a bad breeding problem that wasn't swept under the carpet.

This is just what I have been told, but, I'm sure if I took the time I could find documents to back me up.

I have attended plenty of dog shows, and as far as I know there is no minimum age you have to be to watch a show.

And why does me being 16 justify you to give me crap?

As for young people competing in dogs shows...I am sure you can be very young and handle a dog. I'm not a big dog show person as I think of them as just beauty contests and not really doing any good for purebred dogs at all.

In fact my Sister just got back from a show in Bermuda and a young boy under 16 was cleaning up the show and got BIS on one of the days. My Cousin started showing and handling and competing in obedience trials when she was 13 with the CKC. She was young and cute and got the attention of the judges (we all know that most judges are very much apt to put points on the handler and not the dog). A friend of mine could take a black dog from the animal shelter and get best in breed for Newfoundlands...(just a joke, but it hits close to the truth):)

I know we are friends but I gotta say it this should never happen. It is stalking it is harrassment and you could be in serious trouble. Keep it to PM's and even better.........keep it on the net and out of everyday real life.

No clue if she knows her or his real name. I know I do not! I do not need too either.

As far as classes go, I thought she was taken them through corespondence......could be wrong though.

Oh my. I am sure you did, sweetie. =) Seeing as I have no job, I don't have a boss. Who was it that you talked to? I'm sure you got his or her name, because I would love to speak with them when I go in next time and sort this drama out.

I assure you I have not lied. All I have said is that this dog had eye problems from what I could tell, and that all dogs that are adopted out are spayed and nuetered. There are no lies and half-truths there. Please tell me what I have lied about?

Oh, I have no intention of showing/handling a dog in any NKC event. I was mainly wishing to attend one in the audience and watch the dogs from the sidelines.
