What two breeds would you put together for a perfect mix?

I was in a store not long ago, and came across a pitbull/dalmation mix. It was probably one of the cutest puppies I have EVER seen. I almost picked him up (actually, I physically did) and could barely let the little bugger go!

*sigh*

anyhow, I must say, that would be a particularily wikkid breed of pup.

I'd take the biggest German shepherd with excellent temperament I could find, take the biggest Caucasian Ovcharka with excellent temperament I could find and breed them.

Then... take a Border Collie and breed it with the biggest puppies, take the biggest puppies and breed it with a very big Saint Bernard with an excellent, go-lucky temperament to kind of water down the temperament.

And then take the biggest puppies out of that litter and breed it with a Caucasian Ovcharka. Then take the biggest out of that litter and breed it with a German shepherd again.

And there you have it, the BigDog2191 dog breed. :D

None. Yes, they're cute but it's all BYBing.

I believe it was a hypothetical question, Grammy. Just for kicks.

Hypothetically speaking, I would love a loyal wolf/irish wolf-hound mix. I wonder if it would try to kill itself though.lol

i'll have to dig up a pic of a friend's dog for you. no GSD-ovcharka mix, but a GSD-kuvaz. he was a little smaller than a kuvaz, with the looks of a long-haired GSD (what's called an "old german sheepdog" in germany). black and tan, one of the most beautiful dogs i've ever seen.

I've already had the most beautiful mix in the world. My Odin was a rottweiler/husky mix, and was gorgeous. He literally stopped traffic on many occassions. He had the thick husky coat in solid black with tan legs, but his underbody, chest and face were solid white. And he had the husky black mask. He looked mostly like a husky, except much larger, more muscular and with rott flop-ears.

Too bad he didn't have the stable temperament to go with all that. If I could breed a dog like him with a good temperament, that's what I'd do.

I always thought that an interesting mix would be a BC/Kelpie. I'm sure it's done regularly by people wanting WSDs but I've never seen the result.

I would probably do a Wolf Hybrid and a Kuvasz. You'd get an all white wolf :D Or... a Kuvasz with awesome markings!

I own my dream mix. His dam was a Mastiff and sire was an Irish Wolfhound. In fact, before I found him I always imagined a mix like this. He's built more like a Mastiff but has a wire coat like the wolfhound and those deep penetrating wolfhound eyes that I love. He was neutered last Sunday at 7 months old and weighed 105 lbs. The vet told me he was equivalent to the growth of a 12 year old boy and has a long ways to go

OMG Showpug. Do you have any pics of your giant? I love large dogs. They are just so regal and handsome to me.

Those pictures were taken when he was 5 months old. He's about 7 months now and changing all the time.

What a cool looking dog!!!!! Just have to add from another poster from another thread a while back... how about a Mastiff and a Cocker? (I'll let you're imagination take over for its name :p )

I'll pass over that post !! LOL!! I'd love to see a picture too, pugs ! The Mastiff/shepard that came here to visit was a pretty cool big dog. I guess I'd go Golden Retriever/Newfie/ mix ... or any great personalities and big lugs !

Just as joke only.... how about a chow and retriever. Then it could tear your arm off and bring it back to you :-)

My Bear was probably one of the best mixes I've ever run across: GSD/Akita. He had an amazing temperament, frighteningly intelligent, trustworthy, a strong streak of noblesse oblige, a non-destructive tail ;), loving and loyal, communicative, breathtakingly handsome (he looked like a large Timberwolf), he was the perfect size - around 110 pounds. He was just the perfect companion. He was a big favorite and was always requested for appearances at adoption and rescue events and he was a certified animal therapist.

Not bad for a guy from death row at the pound . . .

I would never purposely mix breeds, but I have to say border collie and German shepherd, which is what Tippy is....of course there will never be another dog like her, but I just love her breeds!

hmm...IF I was all about purposfully breeding mixes I would have to go with a border collie, bernese mountain dog. I have no idea why, I just picture this cute border collie sized dog with bernese mountain dog color, and that laid back attitude, but serious intelligence of the bc.

Hmmm sounds like Tippy....black, tan, and white, calmer than most border collies, very intelligent. :D

Come to think of it, I really do admire miss Tippy. She's a beauty :) Oh and dog I saw the other day, it looked like a large blonde papillion. He was a border collie, american eskimo dog X, and so pretty. He was blonde and white, with the pattern of a border collie, and just too cute for words. Your he looked sort of like your colby with longer fluffier fur, and ears like RDs Ripley. :)

I think most chow mixes look interesting. They usually look husky and strong. That must be a dominant gene well rooted into the chows. But I'd never create a mix breed. What I mind do is adopt a chow mix from a shelter or something.

There actually are purbred BC's that are have that ''blonde look''. I think they call it apricot or something. I have a sable and white pap so it would be interesting standing her next to a apricot BC.
